Mere Ward is a qualified Māori Landscape Designer and Artist based in Rotorua, New Zealand. Her creative process draws heavily on her rural upbringing surrounded by family, culture, Te Reo Māori and the natural world to create gardens that are infused with memories, innovation, collaboration and a deep consideration for all living things.There is an art to occupying a space and creating something that feels authentic and organic. A comforting and effortless garden really is the result of great design skill, careful consideration and attention to detail. A well designed garden has the power to evoke an emotional response- creating rich life experiences and more connection with each other and with the land.

What we do
We work across a range of projects, from early site planning through to landscape design, planting plans and detailed documentation.Considering how indoor and outdoor spaces connect from the very beginning can unlock opportunities and help create a more organic and cohesive result. Our approach is flexible and collaborative with a focus on truly integrating indoor-outdoor living with how the client wishes to use their space.Our Art is an extension of our design work. It is a practice that keeps us grounded and connected to our local natural world. It is inspired by culture and our NZ Native flora and fauna.
